The Glorious Birth of The Lord. By Fr. George El-Andari
Christmas is a major holiday in the Maronite church and it is the second feast of our Lord after Easter, the feast of feasts or the great feast. Traditionally in the eastern Churches they called Christmas the winter Easter because it is a major feast which was preceded by a period of forty days of fasting and abstinence, a period of a nine-day novena that ended with a Church celebration of the Glorious Birth of our Lord, Christmas.

As the Lenten season dawns, a period of introspection and spiritual renewal motions us to journey inward, to align our hearts more closely with the divine. In this sacred time of preparation for Easter, we seek the guidance of those who have navigated the path of faith with grace and steadfastness. Among these leading lights, Saint Joseph, the foster father of Jesus, emerges as a singular beacon of virtue, embodying the essence of quiet strength, obedience, and humility.
Fasting in Christianity is abstaining from food, drink, or another practice for two purposes: the first is to build the self and personality, and the second is the relationship with God and with others through prayer and charity. Fasting is not only a matter of food and drink, but rather...

All four apostles, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, reveal the Baptism of Jesus by St. John the Baptist as the first manifestation of the Holy Trinity to mankind. From the Angel’s appearance to Mary until this event, everything was God acting in preparation for this moment. This moment––the epiphany at Jesus’ baptism––indicates...
