Light of the patriarchs,
Spouse of the Mother of God,
Chaste guardian of the Virgin,
Foster-father of the Son of God,

Watchful defender of Christ,
Head of the Holy Family,
Joseph most just,
Joseph most chaste,
Joseph most prudent,
Joseph most valiant,
Joseph most obedient,
Joseph most faithful,
Mirror of patience,
Lover of poverty,
Model of workmen ,
Glory of domestic life,
Guardian of virgins,
Pillar of families,
Solace of the afflicted,
Hope of the sick,
Patron of the dying,
Terror of demons,
Protector of Holy Church,

Let Us Pray.
O God, in Your ineffable providence You were pleased to choose Blessed Joseph to be the spouse of Your most holy Mother; grant, we beg You, that we may be worthy to have him for our intercessor in heaven whom on earth we venerate as our protector; You who live and reign forever and ever. Amen

Other Prayers

(SEDRO)
One cannot worthily praise you, Joseph, the illustrious and just one. You served Jesus and his Mother and remained with them day and night. In your arms, you bore the One who bears all creatures and nourished the One who provides nourishment for all. You spoke with the eternal Word and were the guardian of his Mother, the blessed Virgin, your pure betrothed. You are blessed among the saints and illustrious among the chaste. We proclaim on this your feast:
Hail, angel who accompanied the Savior and who protected him from all evil;
Hail, star which illumines the Church and guides its children on the right path;
Hail, glory of the just and honor of the elect.
We beseech you, O just one: intercede for those who celebrate your memory today, ask the Lord whom you served during your life, to guide us and protect us from anything that harms the soul and body.
May the Lord accept our incense (prayers) for the living and the dead and we shall give glory to the life-giving Trinity, now and forever. Amen.

Make us worthy, O Lord God, to stand before you with pure hearts and to believe in your birth from a virgin, as Joseph, your chosen one, believed after you revealed your mystery to him. As you appointed the angel in the Garden of Eden to guard the tree of life, so have you chosen Joseph and appointed him guardian of your Virgin Mother in whom you dwelt. Grant us, O Lord, to taste the cherished fruit of your tree, so that we may glorify you, your Holy Father, and you blessed Spirit, now and forever.
