“The aftermath of the Aug 4 Beirut blast was Level 1 – light – damage to 29,771 apartments, Level 2 – moderate – damage to 17,100 apartments, and Level 3 – severe – damage to 1,144 apartments. Furthermore, the blast afflicted 9,700 buildings within the immediate 3-kilometre radius with the impact extending as far as 20 kilometres away. The latter include damages to common areas such as façades, hallways, entrances, elevators, parking lots, electricity connections, shared WASH facilities including water and sewage networks, windows and doors, walls, and fences."

"In addition, other facilities shared by buildings and neighborhoods were affected including roads, pavements, sewage networks, water networks, electricity networks, and solid waste bins. This comes at a time when the country is facing a financial crisis and an economic collapse and also combating the spread of COVID-19.”
