Testimony of Zoe Youssef El Helou
Zoe Youssef el Helou, from Bkassin, Jezzine, was born in Gassin, France on November 27, 2007. Her mother is Annabelle Josephine Matuziak. Her grandmother tells of the girl’s health based on medical reports.
Zoe was diagnosed with anorexia, as she had difficulty eating since her childhood. This prevented her from eating various types of food and in small quantities. Her condition worsened until she stopped eating and was even afraid when food was mentioned in front of her. Her parents resorted to health doctors and psychiatrists in France and abroad without any result.
A year ago, she was admitted to a specialized hospital for similar psychological conditions in the Frejus region in Southern France for a few months. Bearing responsibility, her parents discharged her from it because she could no longer tolerate it.
Her health condition worsened and her body deteriorated. In October 2021, the parents took her to a hospital that specialized in ‘Anorexia’ in Marseilles. Zoe suffered a lot as a fourteen-year-old child.
But she was constantly praying and asking for Saint Sharbel's intercession with the Lord Jesus Christ and the grace of her recovery.
She had asked the doctors to remove anything that might fatten her from her diet.
On that night, she knelt and looked up to the heavens and lamented. She prayed, asking the intercession of Saint Sharbel and the rest of the saints. She then saw a pair of white pigeons in front of her window. She calmed down and was filled with a positivity she never felt before. When she woke up the next day, she felt hungry. She had never felt this hungry before. She had her meal and was healed from her illness. She had returned to her normal state.
Her belief in Saint Sharbel and praying for his intercession did not disappoint her. She was healed and was able to carry out her daily life activities and return to school.
