Healing Miracle of George Pospisil (2017)
On the morning before his surgery, George Pospisil woke up, got out of bed, and felt the cancerous skin on his shoulder fall to the ground. “St. Sharbel, is that you?” He immediately asked.
George’s wife Hoda, a Maronite Catholic, had told him about the many healing miracles accomplished through St. Sharbel’s intercession. So when he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, the couple began to pray, especially to St. Sharbel.
The morning George felt healed by St. Sharbel was July 24, 2016, the sainted monk’s feast day. The following day, George went to the doctor, who remarked that it looked like there was “a lot of activity” around the cancerous area. The doctor excised the skin and sent it to the lab. George received the results a few days later: no residual squamous cell carcinoma.
From a young age, George believed in God. But he describes himself as the prodigal son, someone who fell in and out of faith throughout his life.
“When all of this happened, I was not very committed in my faith, I was a nominal Christian,” he said. “But when this happened, it had a profound effect on me. I found myself down on my knees on the floor, praying.”
