Healing Testimony of Mesal Sajulla Montero
I wish more wonderful blessings to the Family of Saint Sharbel in the USA. May God bless you all for all your help.
I am Mesal Sajulla Montero, 40 years old, single, from the island of Mindanao, Province of Davao Oriental, Philippines. I live with my mother, who is also quite sick, and we have our struggles to put food on the table. I work for our parish, Saint Francis Xavier, as a Parish Youth Coordinator. I am sending you this write up to express my gratitude because I am one of the luckiest to receive the Holy Oil and the Prayer Cards and Novena of Saint Sharbel.
Thank you so much sir Ghassan and FSS USA.
Last June 2025, I went on a trip with my friends to attend the National Youth Day in Naga City, Bicol Region. The flight from Davao to Naga took an hour. At the hotel, I shared a room with my friends.
On June 14, 2025, around 4pm, we were to leave Manila going back to Davao, when I had a bad fall. In the bathroom, I slipped. I fell flat on my back; my head hit the hard floor. From the room, I heard my friends yelling, “Mesal, are you ok?!!!!!!!!,” to which I replied, "I slipped.” I knew within me that my fall was something very serious. Instinctively, I got up, and with both hands I held my head and said, "My Lord Jesus, please help me.” Again and again, I cried out to God, saying, “My Lord Jesus, please help me.”
I knew that my friends were rushing to leave, so I hurriedly got ready despite the accident. I tried to calm down, but I felt the pain in my back and at the back of my head. At around 6PM, we checked out and headed to the airport to catch our 11PM flight. Strangely, I felt okay while traveling back. Back home in Davao, after a couple of weeks, it all came back. I felt very tired and coughed heavily for many days. I had severe back pains, but I still had to report for work, so for days I had to crawl out of bed like an old lady and slowly struggled to stand up. I thought that the pains may be due to the weather and from lack of sleep. Then there was blood in my right eye, and I was experiencing intense migraines. I was scared. Many times, I had to excuse myself to go home early from work as I could not function normally. Sometime in July, I consulted a doctor who is a very active member of our parish. I told her that I must have been coughing for one month, and she put me under observation and told me that the blood in my eyes may have been caused by my cough because it was a hard cough. I was advised to see her again if my headache and dizziness persisted.
I worried because I felt it was very serious, and we could not afford the medical expenses, so I desperately searched online for divine intervention, and I saw and read about St. Sharbel as I scrolled on TikTok. I learned about the miracle with a Filipina mother whose daughter was working in the Middle East. I was desperate to be cured of my unbearable pains. The only medication I took was the Holy Eucharist, the rosary, the chaplet of Divine Mercy, and prayer. I had faith. I always remember what the Lord Jesus said in the book of Mark 5:34: “He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’” I would watch the series, The CHOSEN, and get so emotional and cry. Deep within me, I would pray, “Lord, please help me and heal me.”
I searched about St. Sharbel and learned about Dr. Ann Borik who shares stories about St. Sharbel. Ann talked about the first miracle attributed to St. Sharbel, which was the Miracle of the Lamp. She also talked about Fr. Louis Matar, a caretaker at the Monastery of Saint Maron in Annaya, Lebanon. Ann Borik and Fr. Louis Matar explained about the simple and prayerful life of St. Sharbel and of the many miracles attributed to his intercession. I got in contact with Dr. Anne Borik, and from her I learned about the St. Sharbel Center on Facebook. I emailed FSS USA who put me in contact with FSS Philippines. I received prayer cards and the holy oil of St. Sharbel within a few days.
I was so ecstatic the day the sacramentals arrived in the mail that I got emotional and cried. I truly felt like it was my answered prayer. I got so excited that I rushed home from work, and that night before retiring to bed, I applied the blessed oil on both eyes and made the sign of the cross. I applied the oil on my head, my throat, my forehead, the back of my neck, my lower back, and the whole part of my stomach, and I prayed the holy rosary and the prayer to St. Sharbel.
I woke up the next morning with a burning sensation in my eyes that went on for an hour. The heat in my eyes scared me so much that I ran to the basin and washed my eyes with water. I applied the oil again to stop the burning sensation. For 3 to 7 minutes, there was water dripping out of my eyes like heavy tears. As this was happening, the pain became less and less. In a few months, I was totally healed. My migraines stopped, the pain in my eyes was gone, no more coughs and no more back pains. I now get up in the mornings like I used to before the accident.
I thank and praise my Lord Jesus for giving me a gift of life, a healing that enables me to pray every day, and the strength that keeps me always in my work.
And I thank my Lord Jesus for giving us all the Holy Saints in heaven. The saints are our friends who hear us, pray for us, and lead all our prayers to our Almighty God in Heaven.
To my aunt’s surprise, she asked me how I got well, and so I told her about the blessed oil from Annaya and St. Sharbel. My aunt has a cervical cancer stage 3; she’s done her chemotherapy and radiation, so I messaged FSS Philippines to request more blessed oil, and I immediately received a call. I was informed that they forgot to send the incense made from the cedar and was told that it has a scent of cedar. I said, “That’s the scent I get from the Blessed Oil!!!!!” I learned that the oil has no scent. I guess it was the same scent emitted with the miracle of the oil in Naples, Italy last July 24, 2025. St. Sharbel is very much alive!
