Healing Testimony of Kamil Shayya
Healing of Kamil Gibrayel Jroj Shayya – A Maronite from Latakia, Syria, born in 1969 – from a psychological and nervous illness
I, Kamil Jroj Shayya, after placing my hand on the Holy Gospel and in the presence of Monsignor Antoine Deeb, Vicar General of the Maronite Diocese of Latakia, Tartous, Homs, and Hama, hereby declare the following:
I am married to Adèle Zaidan and have one son and two daughters. In 2015, I suffered a psychological breakdown and nervous collapse. I spent eleven months in isolation, unable to speak to anyone, trembling constantly and unable to stand.
During this time, my sister Wafaa Jroj visited the home of Mrs. Maria Hanna, the mother of Msgr. Antoine Deeb. During the visit, Maria asked my sister why she looked so sad. My sister broke down in tears and shared the details of my illness.
By divine providence, Sola Deeb, Monsignor Deeb’s sister, had just returned from a pilgrimage to Saint Sharbel’s Monastery in Annaya, and she was carrying blessed oil and incense. She said, “I brought this oil for someone in need of healing,” and gave it to my sister Wafaa.
When my sister returned home, she gave me Saint Sharbel’s oil to drink. I felt a bitter taste, and she burned some of the incense. That night, I slept deeply, and when I awoke, I tried to call for my sister but lost my voice completely—my tongue became twisted, and I fell to the ground. I then vomited a dark red fluid resembling blood.
Everyone feared I had suffered a stroke, and an ambulance was called. But on the way to the hospital, I recovered completely—my awareness and strength were restored, even though the doctors had told me that the effects of psychiatric medication take a long time to leave the body.
I underwent tests, analyses, and medical evaluations, and the doctors confirmed that I had become a completely new person, as if I had been born again.
All thanks to Saint Sharbel and the Lord Jesus.

The miracle was officially recorded on December 21, 2023.
