Healing Testimony for Young Charbel Jihad Kassouf
Miracle No. 1 after the Feast of Saint Sharbel in 2023, registered as No. 29491 in the records of the Monastery of Saint Maron, Annaya, at the Shrine of Saint Sharbel.
The miracle happened to young Charbel Jihad Kassouf, born in 2000 in Sad El-Bouchrieh, residing with his family in Mansourieh, Lebanon, and working in trade. As his mother recounts his medical condition, supported by medical reports:
"On the night of March 11, 2023, while my son was returning home and driving through Sad El-Bouchrieh, he saw a building on fire and heard people screaming. He stopped his car and rushed to help extinguish the fire and assist the people trapped inside. In the process, he suffered burns to his hands, legs, abdomen, neck, and head. He was transported by ambulance to Geitaoui Hospital in Beirut. During the entire journey, my son kept crying out to Saint Sharbel, saying, 'O Saint Sharbel, get me safely to the hospital and help me.' He was treated for three months, and there was little hope for his survival."
His mother immediately went to the hermitage in Annaya and began crying out to Saint Sharbel, pleading with him to go down to the hospital and care for her son, to heal him from the burns, and to intercede for him with the Lord Jesus Christ. While she was praying in the hermitage, she received a call from the hospital informing her that her son had regained consciousness and come back to life.
"During his coma, Saint Sharbel appeared to my son and said to him, 'Get up, Charbel.' My son Charbel replied, 'I can't get up,' to which Saint Sharbel responded, 'Get up; you won't die here.' The next day, Charbel awoke from the coma. Although he was still in danger, he underwent two skin graft surgeries and eventually regained his voice, which was previously believed to be lost forever. His doctor, Dr. George Joseph Ghanem, reported that the chances of Charbel Kassouf's recovery were less than 15%, as over 70% of his body had been burned. My son Charbel was miraculously healed 100%, as if he had never suffered from the burns.
Therefore, on July 17, 2023, we came to visit Saint Sharbel to thank him for his intercession and registered the miracle along with the medical report. We give thanks to Saint Sharbel, who hears and answers the prayers of those who call upon him with faith."
