Healing Testimony for Vanessa El Fghali
Student Vanessa Elie Youssef El Fghali, daughter of Martine Saeed Eid, was born in Bdadoun, Lebanon, in 2014 and resides there with her family. Here is the account of her health condition as shared by her mother Martine which the medical reports support:
"When I was pregnant with Vanessa, doctors advised me to abort her due to several health issues, especially with her heart and kidneys. I refused and turned to prayer, asking Saint Sharbel to intercede for her before the Lord. Vanessa was born healthy, so I named her Maria Sharbel at her baptism.
In 2022, Vanessa began to experience back pain, which began to affect her walking. I took her to orthopedic doctor Tony Kahwaji, who referred us to pediatric orthopedic specialist Dr. Ismat Ghanem. He asked us to return after a year to reassess the condition.
On July 26, 2023, after follow-up imaging, Dr. Ghanem diagnosed her with spinal curvature and recommended she wear a back brace day and night until puberty. But on the very day we were to put it on, her back experienced a severe twist that made it impossible to do so.
At that moment, I prayed to Saint Sharbel, asking him to intercede for Vanessa and heal her. I anointed her back with his oil. Vanessa knelt before his shrine and recited the prayer engraved on the wooden plaque. I said to Saint Sharbel, ‘Why won’t you heal Vanessa while you’ve healed so many others? I stood against everyone to give her life when doctors said she wouldn’t be born healthy.’
After our visit to Saint Sharbel, we went to Saint Joseph University Hospital for imaging to track the spinal curvature. The doctor canceled the use of the brace and ordered an MRI. On October 15, Dr. Ghanem called me with joy, saying that the results showed Vanessa’s spine was completely healed and the curvature had disappeared.
So on October 17, we came to thank Saint Sharbel and officially recorded the miracle."
